Welcome to Mrs. Trujillo’s Math Class.
Please log onto our Peason Online Classroom and click the WebMail envelope icon. Remember to read and monitor your WebMail often so you do not miss any information regarding help sessions, test corrections or LiveLessons!
F.Y.I. I will be sending a weekly update through WebMail with details about next week’s schedule and lesson topics; watch for these each Friday afternoon!
Materials
Notebook
I ask that you have a dedicated math notebook where you can record notes and examples. You may use these personal notes on Quick Checks and Tests.
Pen or Pencil
We will be writing formulas and notes, so please come prepared with a writing utensil.
Calculator
You will need access to a calculator with graphing capabilities. We will be using the Desmos online calculator during class.
Lesson Schedule
Please check that your Learning Coach has populated your lessons by running the Scheduler, this will assign a lesson and Quick Check each day of the semester for a total of 5 math lessons per week. Please see the attached Lesson Schedule to inform you of what lesson and assignment you should complete daily.
This Lesson Schedule is the schedule I will use to plan my LiveLessons and Targeted sessions. Please always refer to this Lesson Schedule to ensure you are pacing correctly this semester.
Grading
Our math course consists of the following types of activities. The weight for each graded assignment is shown below. I will be explaining each of these in detail during our first LiveLesson of the semester.

Retakes
I allow retakes and grade revisions for all assignments in my course by completing corrections on my Formative website. I’ll go over these instructions in a separate webmail, please just make sure you can log in by navigating to https://www.formative.com/ using the following credentials
Username: firstlastuca, lowercase with no spaces (shainatrujillouca)
Password: uca123, also lowercase (uca123)
How to Get Help
1 / LiveLesson (required)
Monday - Thursday
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This is our math class! These count as part of your unit sample work. Please set alarms and plan to meet with us daily. LiveLesson attendance will count for 10% of your course grade. Make up instructions are here.
2 / Targeted LiveLesson (required for failing students)
Friday
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This class is held on Fridays during our regular class time. If you are failing, you will be required to come to this class.
3 / INO "In and Out"
Monday - Friday
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Come get help from any of your teachers/advisors. These are quick meetings (5 mins or less) and are supposed to be for quick questions.
4 / Scheduled Office Hours
Monday - Thursday
9:00 am - 10:00 am
These are 30 minute, 1-on-1 tutoring sessions with me. Please be on time and let me know in advance if you won’t be able to attend. Sign up here.
5 / Open Office Hours

How to Raise My Grade
The best way to raise your grade is by correcting portfolios and tests! Follow these instructions to raise your grade:

Go to your Grade Book

Go to Secondary Math I

Look at your Test and Portfolio scores. Find a score that is low and you are unhappy with.

Click on the number of points you have on the Test or Portfolio.

Review the feedback and grading information..

Open the Portfolio or Test Retake on Formative and rework the problems.

Send me a webmail when you have completed the corrections.
If you still need help after completing the portfolio and test retakes, you can:

Sign up for INO and meet with me to set up a plan

Schedule a 30 minute tutoring session with me

Drop into my office hours from 1-2 pm to get help
FAQ
What if I miss class?
Students who miss our synchronous class will need to watch the recording and complete the Attendance/Exit Ticket assignment on Formative.
The password to view our LiveLesson recordings is in the WebMail I sent out at the beginning of the semester.
